English short status CPH expansion

November 2023

D. 30.11. did the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) vote on law L19, which gave Copenhagen Airport in Kastrup unimpeded access to increase the number of passengers from the current almost 30 million passengers to 40 or even 55 million passengers.

The law came without an assessment of the climate damage that the expansion will indiscriminately cause. Votes were 91 in favour of the law (and the expansion) and 17 against.

We have from Bevar Jordforbindelsen (Stay Grounded, Denmark) done everything we could to slow down the law, and not least to hold the politicians accountable for the consequences of their completely unacceptable behaviour.

This was a black Thursday in the Danish climate struggle. But we will not give up to bring attention to the unsustainable aviation sector and to bring some basic knowledge into the debate on aviation.
