English short status CPH expansion

March 2022

The largest shareholder in Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and the Danish Labor Market Supplementary Pension Scheme with 59,4% of the shares. The Danish state (Ministry of Finance) owns 39.2 percent.

CPH wants political permission to expand from 30 million annual passengers (both entry and exit) to 60 million. The processing of this request is already 3-4 years late.

The political permit is closely linked to a national plan to reduce aviation’s climate emissions.

A plan that fortunately includes foreign aviation, where the Danes’ consumption of flying is in European top class. But a Danish climate action plan on aviation will be based on an exaggerated reliance on power-to-X in ample quantity and at a relatively cheap price. In short, a political dream, and an excuse for not doing anything effective against aviation. So the permission for the expansion of CPH is unfortunately pretty likely. Against our will. But time is anyhow in our favour.
